For the Long Winter Days

The winter days have felt unusually long this year, the kind of cold that settles in and stretches the hours. Even as the light returns, there is a stillness in the air—a moment that calls for pause, reflection, and a touch of longing for spring’s arrival.

During these months, I often turn to what brings comfort and warmth. Paper flowers have, of course, become one of those small joys, reminders of hope and renewal, captured in forms that endure beyond the seasons. Their permanence encourages us to take a deeper breath, slow down, and simply be.

This season, this collection of winter and early spring flowers brings together favourites that celebrate winter giving way to brighter days ahead. Paper Snowdrops nod in imagined fields, sculptural Camellias hold their composed presence, Crocus and Hellebores in pastel handpainted paper petals, Narcissus Paperwhites brighten the days, and Amaryllis offer bold, enduring cheer. Each bloom carries a sense of promise for the coming season.

Now, a new flower joins them: the Paper Cyclamen. Its striking shape and poised presence blend seamlessly with the seasonal companions, a reminder that even in the depths of winter, growth and beauty continue.

These paper blooms are a small invitation to pause and notice the passing days, to allow ourselves time for reflection, and to remember that rest is essential.

As the hours lengthen, may these paper plants bring a sense of warmth and hope, and a hint of spring arriving in the heart of winter. Beam x
