From Paper to Petal: a Geranium Commission for a Returning Client

Every so often, a bespoke commission arrives that invites me to create something truly special. Last month brought one of my most memorable requests to date: three XXL paper geraniums for a returning client who has supported my work since the very beginning of my paper flower journey.

Working on a commission for a returning collector always feels particularly meaningful. There is a shared appreciation for craftsmanship and a sense of continuity as their collection of paper flowers continues to grow over time.

For a project of this scale, I usually allow four weeks for production. The process begins with the leaves, the most time-intensive part of creating a crepe paper geranium. Each leaf is hand cut and carefully painted to capture the distinctive markings of the plant, while the pink petals are finished with a soft brush of yellow at their centre to bring warmth and depth to each bloom.
The final days are spent arranging and planting the stems into their pot, shaping the composition so each paper geranium feels organic and full of life, gently reaching towards the light.
These crepe paper geraniums now live in beautiful country homes in the North East of England, alongside earlier pieces from previous commissions, where they will continue to bloom in every season.
If you have a bespoke request in mind, whether a single crepe paper flower or a statement paper geranium, I would be delighted to hear your ideas.
Let us create something together.
