Flower Focus: The Paper Camellia

ree

In many cultures, the Camellia is a symbol of faithfulness and longevity — a flower that speaks quietly yet profoundly of love and devotion that endures.

I have always adored how the Paper Camellia in a rustic terracotta pot deepens that meaning: ever in bloom, unfading, a gift that carries beauty and sentiment all year round. Among the largest in my collection of everlasting potted paper plants, it makes a graceful statement in any heritage inspired interiors — quiet yet powerful, a gentle reminder of enduring love.

And speaking of love, these robust botanical sculptures also remind me of my mother. Some of the smallest petals in the Paper Camellia are cut from the very scraps created by her patient hands, once shaping larger petals one by one. Last year, she and I worked side by side for a month, and now she continues to help all the way from the Philippines. Even from afar, she transforms what might be discarded into tiny bursts of beauty — a testament to her prudence, creativity, and resourcefulness.

The next time you notice the tiniest petals that make the Paper Camellia so lush and enchanting, imagine her sifting through scraps with unwavering care, turning remnants into joy. In every bloom, there is not only a symbol of love but also a n homage to her enduring generosity. 🤍
