The Craft Revival Award 2025: A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Last year brought some very special news for Blooms by Beam, although, with everything else happening in my personal life at the time, and while I may have shared the news on social media, I realised that I had never quite given this achievement the space it deserved here on my journal.

This time last year, I was honoured to receive the Craft Revival Award 2025, presented by The House Directory

in association with Handmade Britain. This was presented during the Handmade Chelsea event in the beautiful Chelsea Town Hall.

The Craft Revival Award celebrates makers who are breathing new life into heritage skills, bringing traditional techniques into the contemporary world through innovation and fresh perspectives.

I was particularly touched by the words accompanying the award:

"By reviving the art of paper floristry for a new audience, Blooms by Beam shows how traditional making can become part of a vibrant, modern craft movement."

Alexander O'Niell of Gorse Knives won the Modern Heirloom award and Ilamon Thangkhiew received the Tradition & Storytelling Award

To have my work recognised in this way was incredibly meaningful. What began as a personal fascination with paper, flowers and the possibilities of making by hand has grown into something I could hardly have imagined when I first started Blooms by Beam.

Behind every botanical sculpture are many hours of cutting, shaping and assembling, often involving days of working on the smallest details. It is a process that calls for patience, persistence and a great deal of love for the craft. There are plenty of those working days that pass without much fanfare, which makes moments of recognition such as this all the more special.

Today, the award has a place of honour in my home, where it takes pride of place. Every time I see it, I am reminded of how far this little business has come and of the encouragement that comes from having one's work recognised by others.

I am truly grateful to The House Directory and Handmade Britain for this recognition, and to everyone who has supported and collected my work along the way.

It is a milestone I am very proud of, and one I wanted to finally celebrate here. Thanks for celebrating it with me! Beam
